Milwaukee's Plastering Company
My name is Bert Kelley, I've been in the plastering trade since 1992, when I was fortunate enough to learn the trade from an old-world craftsman named Ivan Ellsworth. Ivan trained me in the “philosophy” of plastering, which is to apply oneself completely to every technique and push the limits of excellence and skill in the pursuit of mastery.
I can report that this philosophy has served well and find that 20 years later, my plastering trowels honed from use and sharp as razors, my skill is excellent.
One of the pleasures of my pursuit is that I get to work in all sorts of old homes and trace the hand of the master craftsmen who were there before me. This means analyzing the patterns and techniques that were unique to their hand, looking critically and asking; “left or right handed, hard or soft trowel, wrist or shoulder rotation”, etc. In this way one can come away with the satisfaction of knowing that the work was done with respect for the original craftsman, and it also happens to give excellent results!
I consider every estimate I give to be a free consultation, I will give you an honest assessment of what is going on in your house- Is it a settling issue that has largely played out or is there a deeper problem that needs to be resolved through roofing, plumbing or foundation work? Does your house have leeching mineral salts or layers of incompatible paints? These are just a few of the problems I run into on a regular basis and can reliably diagnose and remedy.
I live in Milwaukee, as fine and historic town as you can wish, and am blessed with a wonderful family with my wife and 3 children. My hobbies include reading, automobile restoration, and biking. I have two years of college and 41 years of learming, speak German and Spanish, and never let 5 minutes go by without telling a joke.
